EFFIE IRENE KIRK 93 Oblong, IL VISITATION: 5 - 8 p.m. Thursday June 14, 2001 FUNERAL: 10:30 a.m. Friday June 15, 2001 MEMORIAL: Eastern Illinois Christian Childrens Home Effie Irene Kirk 93, Oblong, Illinois died Tuesday June 12,2001 at
10:30a.m. at her residence. She was born August 20,1907 in Cumberland
County in the Hazel Dell area. Effie was the daughter of James Matheny
and Lauetta (Lockhart) Matheny. On September 30, 1928 she married Leonard
I. Kirk. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Oblong. She
was known by many for several years as the "Egg Lady", her
hobbies included sewing, cooking and her Grandchildren. Effie was very
active in her church and was known for her Butterscotch pies by family
and friends. Effie is survived by her husband Leonard Kirk; 3 sons and daughters
-in-laws Noel & Rose Kirk, Keith & Bev Kirk and Gene & Janet
Kirk; 2 daughters and sons-in-laws Dawn & Wayne Tracy and Karen
& Donald Russell; 31 Grandchildren, 46 Great Grandchildren and 6
Great great Grandchildren; daughter-in-law Judy Kirk; 2 sisters-in-laws
Mary Matheny and Juanita Matheny. Also surviving are several nieces
and nephews. Effie was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son David
Kirk; 1 daughter and son-in-law Reba and Henry Traylor Sr; 4 brothers
Lester, Harry, Gerald and Ira Matheny; and 2 grandsons Todd Russell
and Lance E. Kirk. Brother David Huey will officiate and burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery. |
