				  James W. Smith Sr., 77, Oblong, Illinois, passed away Tuesday November
				  16, 2010 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL. Jim was born November
				  8, 1933 and was the son of Rev. Zay “Boosie” Smith and Velma
				  E. (Hardin) Smith. On April 19, 1952, he married Effie M. Duckworth, who
				  preceded him in death on May 12, 2003. He then married Amelia (Mickey)
				  on September 27, 2005. She survives.
				   
				  Jim retired from the United States Army in 1975 after serving
				  for 22 years. Jim served in the Viet Nam Conflict.  He then went to
				  work for Pillsbury as a Logistic Manager retiring in 1991. Jim was also
				  involved with the R.O.T.C. Program at Purdue University for many years.
				  While living in Tennessee, Jim served as a Corporate Events Planner at
				  Indian Hills and Champions Run golf courses. He was a member of the Berlin
				  Congregation Christian Church rural Oblong and Oblong Wesleyan Church.
				  Jim enjoyed golfing, hunting, bass fishing with the Pro Bass Fishing Association
				  and most of all, enjoying his friends.
				   
				  Jim is survived by his wife Amelia; five sons and three daughters-in-laws – Steve
				  Smith, James & Linda Smith, Larry & Pam Hubbard, Wiley Smith and
				  Vonnie & Kathy Smith; five daughters and two son-in-law – Angie & Jerry
				  Pounds, Debbra Jackson, Gayle & Anthony Robinson, Penny Booth and Linda
				  Clemmons; 30 grandchildren Nichols Smith, David & Lynn Westrom, Taylor
				  Bullington, David Pounds, Michael Pounds, Richard Pounds, Lora Wider, Joel
				  Jackson, Johnathan Jackson, Billy Singpracha, Altena Smith, William Smith,
				  Hillary Smith, Hollianne Smith, Haley Smith, Emily Smith, Andrew Smith,
				  Eric Smith, Amy Earls, Mandy Smith, John Hubbard, Josh Hubbard, Lauren & Brent

				  Robinson; three brothers and two sisters-in-laws – Thomas L. Smith,
				  L. Eugene & Mary Smith and Clarence R. & Jennie Smith; one sister
				  and brother-in-law – Sandra Sue & Steve Garner and several nieces
				  and nephews.
				   
				  Preceding Jim in death were his parents; first wife; one son – Richard
				  Allen Smith; one great-granddaughter; a brother – Michael D. Smith;
				  a sister – Joan Hartleroad and a sister-in-law – Henrietta
				  Smith.
				   
	    Burial will be in the Berlin Cemetery, rural Oblong, Illinois.
