				  Gene Purcell, 83, Oblong, IL passed away at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, April
				  6, 2010, at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL. Born in Jasper County,
				  IL on September 8, 1926, he was the son of Charles Purcell and Leona (Robinson)
				  Purcell. He was a graduate of Oblong High School ~ Class of 1944. He served
				  with the Army Air Corp. He was employed with Mont Eagle Mills, Oblong for
				  over 40 years retiring in 1995. Gene was a member of the First Christian
				  Church, Oblong. He was a lifetime member of the Oblong Masonic Lodge #644
				  serving as Worshipful Master in 1963 & 1966, National American Legion
				  and Robinson Elks Lodge #1188. His hobbies included reading about history
		  and traveling.
				On October 17, 1946, he married Louise Hargis, who survives. Gene & Louise
				  had celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversay. Also surviving is one son
				  and daughter-in-law, Mike & Sharon Purcell; two grandchildren, John & Lori
				  and Josh; two great-grandchildren, Jared and Anna; one brother and sister-in-law,
				  Carl & Janice Purcell; one sister, Louise Miller; two sisters-in-law,
				  Mrs. Clinton (Carol) Purcell and Mrs. Ronnie (Gloria) Purcell and several
				  nieces and nephews.
				Gene is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Linda A. Purcell
				  - May 1, 1996; three brothers, Aaron, Clinton & Ronnie Purcell.
				Bro. Harry Randolph will be officiating the funeral service with burial
				  in Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, IL.
