		  John E. Thompson 71 Hardinville, Illinois died Sunday, July 6, 2003
		  at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. John was born on
		  July 2, 1932 in Crawford County, Illinois and was the son of Linza "Bill" & Mary
		  Thompson. On December 1, 1951, John married Barbara (Immel) in Oblong,
		  Illinois. John retired from Marathon Oil Company in 1986 from the Maintenance
		  Department.
		  After retirement, John started his own mowing service and cut wood
		  in the winter. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict
		  as a Supply
		  Sergeant. John was a member of the Hardinville Christian Church where
		  he was very active in several capacities.
		  
		  He was a Charter Broad Member of the Sandia Chico Christian Mission
		  in Mexico where he served for several years and a former School Broad Member
		  of the New Hebron Christian School. John's hobbies included hunting, fishing,
		  mowing and cutting wood. John never met a stranger. He was a graduate from
		  Oblong High School Class of 1950.
		  
		  Surviving John is his wife Barbara; two sons and daughter-in-law Robert & Ginny
		  Anne Thompson and John "Sparky" Thompson; three grandchildren Nicole
		  Frances Thompson, Robert Everett Thompson & Daniel Jesse Thompson; one
		  sister and brother-in-law Mary Alice & Jim Ferguson; one niece and one
		  nephew. His parents precede John in death.
		  
		  Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois with Flag Presentation
		  and Taps by the Oblong American Legion Post #219.
