          Effie Marie Smith 68, Oblong, Illinois died Monday May 12, 2003 at her 
          residence in Oblong. She was born in Newton, Illinois on January 10, 
          1935 and was the daughter of James E. Duckworth and Lula Ethel (Davis) 
          Duckworth. On April 19, 1952, she married James W. Smith Sr. Marie was 
          a Certified Nurses Aid and retired from Union Hospital, Terre Haute, 
          Indiana. She was a member of Berlin Congregational Christian Church 
          rural Oblong and her hobbies included doll collecting, crocheting, camping 
          and traveling. She and Jim had lived all over the world. 
          
          Marie is survived by her husband James W. Smith Sr.; four sons and daughter-in-laws 
          Steven Smith, Wiley D. & Chasity Smith, James W. Smith Jr., and 
          Vonnie Kevin & Cathy Smith; two daughters and a son-in-law Deborah 
          Jackson and Mary Angela & Jerry Pounds; 18 grandchildren; 14 great 
          grandchildren; three sisters and a brother-in-law Mary Wyatt, Anna Mae 
          & Bill Finn and Bernice Murphy; four brothers-in-laws & sisters-in 
          -laws Thomas L. & Henrietta Smith, L. Eugene & Mary Smith, Clarence 
          Ray & Jennie Smith and Sandra Sue and Steve Garner; father-in-law 
          Zay Smith and several nieces and nephews.
          
          Marie is preceded in death by her parents, one son Richard Allen Smith, 
          one sister Louise Duckworth, Dean Penrod, four brothers Charles Wesley, 
          Albert, Delmar Duckworth and an infant brother and mother-in-law Velma 
          Smith.
          
          Burial will be in Berlin Cemetery, south and west of Oblong.
